The Garden
On the site of a 2000-year-old Roman villa, the lovely terraced gardens retain their charm. You will sense the city’s powerful layers of history as you stumble across artefacts, stone walls and mosaic floors that peep out of the pavement, amongst the lush greenery. Each plant is related to its ancient Roman species. Secluded areas are perfect for morning coffee or aperitivi. A special walled area in the upper garden is surrounded by 1st century Roman walls and peppered with ancient Roman remains. There you can enjoy sitting and taking your drinks or meals just like the Romans themselves used to do.
On the main patio there is a brick BBQ and a shaded area where you can cosy up on the seats scattered around the picturesque grounds. There is also a beautiful covered portico that looks onto the patio and a green lawn perfect for receptions, ceremonies, canapés, or musical performances.
The vegetable garden, the “orto”, is cared for by the owner, who loves offering its produce to her guests.
